The hotel has clean rooms in a great area, right in the center. It's a simple location, just a short stroll away from a huge plaza. What a really great stay, no reason to complain.

Great Value, Excellent Manager
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The manager was incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel welcomed from the moment I arrived. The room was comfortable and had all the amenities I needed, including air conditioning and a refrigerator. The shower had excellent water pressure, making for a refreshing start to my day. I also appreciated that the hotel was able to accommodate my group of three in the same room. The location of the hotel was perfect, with convenient access to public transportation and nearby shops and restaurants. I had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Very accomodating to my needs. Initially it was difficult to find because it is like an apt. And I walked past it. I felt like I was staying in a family guestroom.
Pack light because there is a walk up to the hostal.

I recently stayed at this cozy hotel for three nights while exploring the beautiful city. Mrs. Angela, the friendly staff member, provided excellent customer service and kept our room spotless throughout our stay. The hotel's location was ideal, with easy access to popular attractions like Plaza del Sol and Plaza Mayor. We enjoyed the vibrant neighborhood filled with numerous restaurants and mini markets, making it convenient for dining and getting supplies. a great place to stay with a welcoming atmosphere and a perfect base for exploring the city.
I do recommend this hotel.

I loved everything about this hotel. We are a family of 5 and this was our last hotel in Europe after traveling for 7 weeks. It was humble and spotless and the owners couldn't do enough to make our stay a positive experience. Many times they solved issues for us which were beyond the scope of 'accommodation'. Our room had a glassed-in balcony that could be opened onto the street, a great place to watch the passing parade. The area is alive with interesting designers shops, old fashioned and groovy bars and a small theatre. It was a few blocks away from the red light district but we all felt safe. Close to the metro (which is very cheap) so no where was a hassle to get to. The room wasn't huge and this a pension not a starred hotel but we loved it. I would highly recommend it as a very reasonably priced, comfortable place to enjoy the great city of Madrid.

Located near Plaza de Spagne the hotel is centrally located. Once in, the stairs and hotel/apartment is very clean and the lady owner is very welcoming, although she does not speah English.
The hotel is situated within an apartment block on 1st and 2nd floor and is a little confusing on where exactly the entrance is, there is no reception as such. The shop on the ground floor is at present empty with lots of posters on, so it makes the entrance to the hotel upstairs very tacky.

The staff was extremely helpful, even heated up left overs for me one night! They really could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I don't speak any Spanish & they, very little English, but it was not a problem, we managed the language difference quite easily with smiles & a little sign language & pointing. The room was small for a double but absolutely spotless.
5 flights of stairs & no elevator with a 50 pound suitcase - but I managed.

The small hotel is managed by a very kind and friendly couple who do their best to help, in English, with all enquiries. Nearby "Alhanbra" coffee bar has very nice continental breakfast at c. € 3.50 for coffee, croissant and freshly pressed OJ - much cheaper than any hotel offers. The hotel is value pure: no trimmings, no large entrance hall, reception etc, just the very clean and comfy rooms on the 4th and 5th floor of this residential house in a busy residential quarter of Madrid.

I was pleasantly surprised by the value for money at Hostal Del Pez Azul. The room was clean and not dated, with daily cleaning service. The shower was powerful with hot and cold options. The central location allowed for easy access to Gran Via and the metro system. There were plenty of nearby dining options. Despite a bit of noise from other guests, I had a comfortable stay overall. I would recommend this hotel for a budget-friendly option with easy access to all that Madrid has to offer. I had a great experience and would recommend this hotel.

The room was quiet. The couple who run the hotel are very nice and accommodating.
The building is kind of run down and the area a little dicey, but it was 3 minutes from the metro. Also far more interesting and different to see what an apartment complex looks like, rather than an ordinary hotel. Kind of like visiting ones grandparents who live in the city, the one your parents left to live in the suburbs.
